Preview: King David, URA Besiege Kitende
David Obua, keen to secure a favorable outcome, leads an enthusiastic URA FC squad to confront Vipers at Kitende in the upcoming Match-day Eight of the Uganda Premier League.
Having garnered a 2-2 draw against Kitara in his debut match at Lugazi, Obua’s second game in charge holds promise for URA.
Despite initially taking the lead courtesy of Najib Fessali, URA found themselves reliant on an Ivan Ahimbisibwe header to salvage a point, following consecutive goals by Kitara’s Living Kabon and Brian Aheebwa.
Within his initial four days at the club, Obua had obtained an encouraging performance marked by enhanced intent and purpose from his side, sparking admiration.
Approaching this Thursday’s floodlit clash, Obua acknowledged the challenges faced, citing weather constraints.
Nevertheless, he emphasized the team’s adaptability and thorough preparation, despite limited time with the players due to some participating in national team duties and others engaged in the Drum tournament.
In their recent away fixture, the Tax collectors suffered a 1-0 loss to BUL but had previously secured a point in each of their last three away games this season.
Meanwhile, Vipers, following a 3-1 defeat against rivals KCCA FC at Lugogo, are hungry to claim maximum points.
They have displayed strong home form, winning two out of three league games and only managing a 1-1 draw against SC Villa.
Recalling last season’s encounter at Kitende, the fixture concluded in a 1-1 draw, with Karim Ndugwa’s 29th-minute goal negating Patrick Mbowa’s 13th-minute opener—Mbowa, now a part of Vipers.
The Tax Collectors have only lost once in their last six visits at Kitende.
