KCCA put up such a scintillating show at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo as they heavily defeated Wakiso Giants in their last home fixture of the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League (UPL) season.
Muhammad Shaban, Filbert Obenchan, Haruna Lukwago and Joao Gabriel all scored as the Kasasiro Boys put four unanswered goals past the Purple Sharks in Lugogo.
Shaban scored his 17th league goal of the season to put the hosts ahead in the 19th minute of the game, assisted by Ashraf Mugume. The KCCA striker is still leading the race to win this season’s Golden Boot.
In the 26th minute, Filbert Obenchan doubled KCCA’s lead with a powerful header past Wakiso Giants goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya, to the back of the net.
Just two minutes after KCCA’s second goal, Lukwago got the third for the Lugogo-based side. The right full back squeezed the ball at the near post to score KCCA’s third of the day, and his second for the club this season.
Lukwago would later in the 65th minute also brilliantly assist Brazilian forward Joao Gabriel to score KCCA’s fourth.
KCCA have now displaced NEC to sixth on the 16-team UPL table, for them to reoccupy the fifth position.
KCCA have collected 48 points, same as NEC, but the Kasasiro Boys have a superior (+18) goal difference.
In 28 games, the Lugogo-based side has won upto 15 times, drawn thrice and lost ten.
In their last game of the season, the Kasasiro Boys will visit Maroons away in Luzira on Saturday, May 18.
