UPL: Maroons Fight Back To Draw Police

Wednesday, April 3
Maroons FC 2-2 Police FC
(Maroons Stadium, Luzira)

Maroons FC came from down on two occasions to snatch a point off Police in a StarTimes Uganda Premier league game played at Luzira.

Eddie Kapampa equalised with a beautiful freekick at the stroke of halftime after Juma Balinya had put Police in the lead.

Police took the lead again with Ruben Kimera at the end of a counter attack from Basani Safi’s assist across the field.

Maroons levelled to make it 2-2 when Silvester Okello pounced in at close range, adding in from Belmos Opio’s shot when Police failed to clear the lines from the corner.

Police looked the better side in the first stanza and could have been three up after half an hour – Basani had an effort that rattled the crossbar and Johnson Odongo’s curler went just an inch wide.

The hosts on the other hand, also had Isaac Otto denied by the crossbar, Solomon Walusimbi also came close and Bronson Nsubuga had his long range effort tipped out by Davis Mutebi.

Police FC displace Express FC in ninth place with 32 points while Maroons remain in 12th with 26 points after 25 games.
