Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder Farouk Miya has suggested that it should have been better for the players and the country at large if Sebastien Desabre held on as coach.

Desabre and FUFA agreed to terminate their contract on Saturday, less than 24 hours after the Cranes bowed out of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking exclusively to this website in Egypt, Miya revealed:

“Its sad news that he is leaving. I think the whole fans, players and every Ugandan will be sad about this. For me, it has been a short time but I have learnt a lot and I appreciate the good work he has done for our team.

“He could have stayed for a longer time, it would have been better for the country and as players we should have benefited more from his work and experience.”

Miya has been an instrumental figure in Desabre’s set up and paid back the coach’s trust when he set up both goals against DR Congo as Uganda Cranes got off the mark in Egypt.
