SC Villa’s coach Edward Kaziba feels his team’s scoring department needs to improve if they are to achieve their targets this season.

SC Villa fired blanks in a goalless draw with bitter rivals Vipers SC on Wednesday night at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Speaking after the odourless encounter, Kaziba said:

“The result has been fair, it’s good we didn’t lose the game. We had the chances including one which hit the post although we never played as expected in the second half.”

He added:

“It rained a bit and from then on we did not play well, we lacked concentration and the timing was poor as we lost the ball very easily.

“We need to improve on our scoring, we have to work more on our attacking to see that we score more goals.”

The team’s target man Bashir Mutanda has been a shadow of himself and he is yet to find the back of the net this season.

Villa encountered Vipers’ Fabien Mutombora in sublime form, while the backline of Paul Willa, Aziz Kayondo, Bashir Asiku and Halid Lwaliwa refused to give up.

Villa looked a threat going forward and created some clear cut chances and the fact that they managed to trouble Vipers, one of this year’s season’s contenders, suggest that this is not a broken team as many thought initially.

Villa had a poor start this season, losing 1-0 to newly promoted Kyetume FC at Namboole but have since bounced back and now occupy third place with 11 points.

The Record winners who gave a debut to youngster Gavin Kizito, will hope for the best when they visit Busoga United on Saturday on matchday seven.
