UPL: SC Villa Thrash Wakiso Giants To Go Second

SC Villa beat Wakiso Giants on Wednesday night under Namboole floodlights on match-day eight of the 2019/20 StarTimes UPL.

The Jogoos, after a poor first half display, won 2-0 after a strong second half surge.

Amir Kakomo scored from long range in the 56th minute before David Owori doubled the advantage with a beautiful lob in the 74th minute to seal the win.

David Owori and substitute Bashir Mutanda missed chances for the hosts.

The Purple Sharks will rue missed opportunities especially in the first half were they had the lion’s share of possession.

Karim Ndugwa and Viane Ssekajugo had chances but failed to beat goalkeeper Saidi Keni who was outstanding. Keni also easily collected Kirizestom Ntambi’s header in the 50th minute.

Fahad Kawooya had a goal disallowed, booked for a foul against Faisal Muwawu before being sent off for a second yellow in the 78th minute.

The victory, fourth from eight games, lifts Villa to second place with 15 points while Wakiso Giants are now in 8th with 10 points.

Villa will return to action against Maroons at Luzira as Wakiso host Proline FC.
