CECAFA: Organising Committee Scraps ‘Free Entrance’ Match

The CECAFA senior challenge cup local organising committee has decided to charge fees for Uganda Cranes opener against Burundi.

Earlier on Thursday, FUFA head of communications Ahmed Hussein had revealed that the cecafa match will be played at Namboole and will be free of charge at entrance.

However, the decision has been rescinded less than eight hours after.

In addition, the match has been shifted from Namboole to Lugogo’s StarTimes Stadium. This is the latest development in regards to the tourney’s venues – The much awaited championship was initially scheduled to be played in Jinja.

“The opening day matches will be played on Saturday 7th December 2019,” confirms a statement on FUFA website.

“The match between Uganda Cranes and Burundi will now be played at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo with kick off set for 4.30pm. The fans will be charged 5,000/= (Ordinary ticket) and 30,000/= (Pavilion).

“The match between Djibouti and Somalia will be hosted at Mandela National stadium at 1.30pm and not Wakisha grounds as earlier communicated. The fans will watch this match FREE of charge.

Match between Djibouti and Somalia earlier on Saturday was earlier scheduled to be played at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakissha.

Visitors DR Congo, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Rwanda will not be taking part.
