Bright Anukani ‘Wants More’ After Maiden Goal For Uganda Cranes

Youngster Bright Anukani says that he wants to score more goals in Uganda Cranes colours after netting his first goal in the team’s 2-1 win over Burundi in the CECAFA senior Challenge Cup.

Bright Anukani scored the first goal for Uganda Cranes before setting the other for Vipers’ Fahad Bayo for the hosts to get off the mark.

“Its a good feeling for me,” Anukani explained in an exclusive interview with The-SportsNation.com. “The feeling is just great and I want to continue scoring. Like at least five goals in this ongoing tourney.”

The striker dedicated his goal to his grandparent Ssali Beatrice who brought him up at Kakiri.

Anukani, against all odds, started in the middle of the park as Cranes coach Jonathan Mckinstry went for a possessive approach with Shafick Kagimu and Allan Okello also in the starting lineup.

The youngster played with confidence as he bossed the middle of the park with his slick passes, controlled the tempo and created various scoring opportunities.

“The coach has believed in me right from the start and am hoping that I have not disappointed him today. He always tell us to go forward which we are starting to master.”

Anukani, who helped Proline to Uganda Cup win and Big League promotion, will return to action as Uganda take on Somalia on Monday at Lugogo.
