Cricket: Uganda Beat Tanzania To Win U19 Bilateral Series

Uganda’s U19 women national cricket team beat Tanzania by 14 runs in the finals of the bilateral T20 series at the Kyambogo Cricket Oval.

Racheal Achan was named the player of the match after registering 3-14 to restrict Tanzania to 79/8.

Uganda took advantage of winning the toss to set 93/5 thanks to captain Esther Illoku’s unbeaten 34 runs off 35 balls that had four boundaries.

Illoku was also named the championship’s Most Valued Player (MVP) for the series that were sponsored by Aziz Damani, Metro Tyres and Kampala Boys Sports Club.

Uganda fielded two teams – Uganda U19 Women national team and a select side competed with visitors Tanzania.

The series was used by the two countries as a first step to prepare for the coming inaugural U19 girls World Cup in 2021.

It was also used to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
