Attacking midfielder Gaddafi Gadinho has come out to clear air after his disappearance from Mbarara City during the second part of last season.
Gadinho joined the Ankole Lions from Onduparaka FC in May last year, signing a two-year contract.
However, the striker who was a darling at Onduparaka, failed to delivered for Mbarara as earlier anticipated.
His spell at Mbarara was highlighted by absenteeism, much to the disappointment of the fans.
The creative midfielder has told this website that Mbarara failed to honour his contract and that is why he never returned at the club after the first round.
“Mbarara City is a good club, I enjoyed my stay there, but you know I am a person who has a family, so in Mbarara I was there for a job,” Gadinho said.
“You know the terms of contract when signing, there is an agreement between the player and the club like paying your salary, so if they don’t pay your salary in time how will you feed your family at home because they know that you are working, so you can’t tell them that you you weren’t paid, how will your family feel.
“I didn’t disappear but I decided to come back to Arua to stay with my family, so I never went back to play second round.”
Gadinho was one of the key pillars for Onduparaka and was named the player of the season for the club in 2017.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to leave Onduparaka but I wanted a new challenge,” Gadinho on why he left Arua to join Mbarara City FC.
“Onduparaka is a good team but time moves very fast in football and I can’t just come at the end of my career when there is nothing that I can show my family and kids that I got from football, so football is a business.
Gadinho who recently joined UPDF FC, claims that he will one day return to play for Onduparaka FC.
“But I will go back to Onduparaka anytime any year, it is my team and I love it so much from the bottom of my heart. Actually I wanted to sign for them this season but I decided to head to UPDF and I hope, at the end, I will finish it at home.”
Gadinho says that he was contacted by many clubs before choosing to sign for UPDF FC.
Earlier, reliable reports told The-SportsNation that Mbarara City FC demanded around Sh7m from any club that wanted the services of Gadinho.
Gadinho adds that he has not officially signed with UPDF FC but “it’s a done deal.”
“I want to help the team (UPDF FC) stay in the league and finish in a comfortable position, winning a trophy will be a bonus.”
He comments that he was attracted to UPDF because of the “good” offer they tabled for him.
He has a dream of serving the army at the end of his football career.
