Covid19 Relief Funds: FUFA Cautions Beneficiaries

FUFA has asked Clubs and other stakeholders to use the Covid19 Relief funds in an effective and beneficial way.

On Monday FUFA Deputy CEO Decolas Kiiza confirmed that the Federation has received the first batch of the FIFA Covid19 relief grant totaling to $500,000.

Consequently, the Executive Committee approved the appropriation of the funds to respective stakeholders including Uganda Premier League clubs.

“We call up all our members, beneficiaries of these funds to put them to proper use – the use intended for Covid19 relief especially for losses incurred and for us to be able able to prepare for the upcoming season when football activities do resume,” said Decolas.

The clubs are expected to use the funds to at least clear players arrears among others.

Most players from clubs like Onduparaka, Villa and Busoga United have cried foul over unpaid salaries accruing to up to seven months.

UPL Clubs have been given Sh32m each, the amount they will receive in two weeks time.

Clubs from Big League, Regional League, Fourth Division, Beach Soccer, Futsal have also been catered for as well. The Federation has also issued out funds to District Football Associations, Special Interest Groups, UPL, Regions and Youth National teams as well.

FUFA has also reserved some resources to “enable us kick off the playoffs and also prepare for the upcoming season.”
