KCCA FC Confirms Venue For AS Kigali Tie

KCCA FC has confirmed their venue where they will host AS Kigali in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first round.

The game on January 6, will be played at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

This, is home for rivals SC Vipers.

KCCA FC will host at Kitende after their home MTN Omondi Stadium failed to meet requirements for a continental game per CAF standards.

“After an inspection of Stadiums in Uganda, CAF notified KCCA FC that MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo was not eligible to host this edition’s CAF games,” KCCA has stated on the club website.

“CAF accredited St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende and deemed it fit to host CAF games.”

Recently, St Mary’s Stadium hosted Uganda Cranes AFCON Qualifier game against South Sudan.

In recent past, KCCA FC hosted some of their continental games at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. However, the stadium is temporarily a Covid19 medical centre.

The Lugogo based side failed to raise the required number of players to play the first leg due to Covid19 and lost the game 2-0 by forfeiture.
