KCCA FC captain Lukwago wary of BUL threat but confident of victory

KCCAF FC goal keeper and Captain Charles Lukwago says they need to get all three points and be competitive again as KCCA FC visits BUL FC on Friday afternoon.

The two side resume action in the Uganda Premier League at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe.

KCCA FC lost their last two league games against SC Villa and URA FC and will be looking to bounce back to winning ways.

This fixture comes after a long break of close to two months due to the just concluded CHAN tournament where Uganda participated.

KCCA FC had several players in the team that failed to progress past the group stage of the competition in Cameroon.

Lukwago, Denis Iguma, Bright Anukani and striker Brian Aheebwa were the Kasasiros in Cameroon and are all expected to make the match-day squad on Friday.

The Kasasiro boys will miss six youngsters who are with the Uganda Hippos in Mauritania for the AFCON U20 Championship – Steven Sserwadda, Sam Ssenyonjo, Joseph Kizza Bukenya, Andrew Kawooya, Joseph Kafumbe and Musa Ramathan are all away.

KCCA will also be without some injured players like Sadat Anaku and Gift Ali but Lukwago says its time for others to step up and be counted.

“We are going to miss some of our colleagues who are injured, but it’s an opportunity for the rest came in and take the chance with both hands. Lukwago said at the pre-match press conference at Lugogo on Thursday.

“We have a lot of good players and it is just a matter of getting an opportunity to show what they can do.”

BUL thrashed KCCA 3-0 last season and they possess a real threat for Mike Mutebi’s side on Friday, something that Lukwago appreciates.

“We know the threat that BUL FC possess, and we know how our last encounter went.

“They are a good side with a good playing style and decent squad but we have tried to do some research on them and we need all the points to be competitive again so we will try all we can to win.”

Lukwago also adds that a lot of things have changed since the last time the two teams met.

“We did not play the two fixtures with them last season, but a lot of things have changed since last campaign and we are ready to get the win tomorrow.”

KCCA are currently 5th on the log, with nine points from five games played.
