Federation of Uganda Football Association, FUFA, has confirmed departure of National team football coach Jonathan Mckinstry.
The Federation had earlier refuted media claims on Saturday about the coach’s sacking.
In a statement released on Monday, FUFA says that they have reached an agreement with the Uganda Cranes coach.
“The Head Coach of the Uganda Men’s National team, Johnathan McKinstry, has today reached an agreement with FUFA to bring an end to his 18 months at the helm of the Uganda Cranes,” reads a statement from FUFA, in part.
“FUFA would like to thank Coach McKinstry and his staff for the work and dedication to developing the Uganda Cranes during their tenure.
“We would like to thank Coach McKinstry for the professionalism demonstrated during his employment with FUFA, and we wish him well in all his future endeavours.”
Mckinstry was under scrutiny after Uganda lost to South Sudan in Kenya in AFCON Qualifiers, and a poor show at CHAN is said to be the final nail in his coffin.
Coach McKinstry won 12 of his 18 games at the helm, drawing three and losing as many.
The Northern Irishman had returned to office after he was asked to step aside from March 2nd- 31st, 2021.
Abdallah Mubiru and Livingston Mbabazi were at the helm as the Cranes failed to return to AFCON.
The Federation is expected to confirm a coaching team ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers that kickoff later this year in June.
