Stanbic Uganda Cup Will Be Played To Conclusion – FUFA

FUFA has stated that the 2020/21 Stanbic Uganda Cup will be have a natural ending.

The Federation has expressed confidence despite ending the Uganda Premier League season.

The Uganda Cup was halted this month when Government banned Sports due to Covid19.

The competition was at the semifinal stage, awaiting draws.

Updating on the status of the competition for the season, FUFA through their official website stated: “The competition is at the Semifinal stage but the games will be played to conclusion before the start of the 2021/2022 new season.”

Joint record winners Express FC, Vipers, BUL and Police are the teams awaiting for the semifinals draw.

The cup competition was declared null and void last season due to Covid19.

This season, the competition was kicked off at the round of 32 with only Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League clubs.

FUFA has already declared URA FC as next season’s CAF Confederation Cup representative, a position that is normally taken by a Uganda Cup winner.

The winner will meanwhile settle for Sh50m. The runners up will take Sh20m while all the semifinalists are at least guaranteed of Shs12m.

During the 24th FUFA EXCOM Meeting in April, FUFA confirmed Masindi stadium in Kitara region as the venue for the Uganda cup finals.
