KCCA FC edged tricky Busia United FC to book a spot in Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32, following a 2-1 win in a game played at Madibira Grounds, Busia.
Goals from Gift Ali and Charles Lwanga were enough to seal it for the visitors who were handed a real test from the hosts.
Dauda’s 70th minute strike for the hosts topped the resilience from Busia United but the minnows could not find an equaliser.
The visitors lived up to their big name and took proceedings straight away, but the host were spot on as they were equal to KCCA’s tasks for extended stretches.
Inside the first 1O minutes of play, Lwanga missed two chances when headed wide Herbert Achai’s efforts on both occasions before Yassar Mugerwa rolled out Majjwega’s effort
In 37th minute, Gift Ali powered in rocket just outside Busia’s box after receiving a neat ball from Brian Majwega to give the visitors the lead.
Just before the break, Lwanga doubled the lead after the keeper spilled Majwega’s initial effort, to give his side first half advantage.
The hosts improved in the second stanza and were cheered on by a sizeable crowd as they started to ask Morley Byekwaso’s side some questions.
And their efforts paid off in the 70th minute with Dauda tapping in afreekick from close range.
