The Luzira-based side qualified to the FUFA Women Super League last season after winning the second division Elite League.

Millicent Namwembe scored the only goal of the game to guide her side past Rines SS WFC at the FUFA Technical Centre Njeru.

And as they kick-start their campaign on Sunday 6th February away to defending champions Lady Doves FC at the Katushabe Ground, their target is to become a mainstay.

Ready to Impress – She Maroons

Speaking to The-SportsNation in an interview, the gaffer says they have prepared well for the season and had a number of build up matches with both the girls and boys teams.

“We have prepared well by having 8 weeks pre-season training programs,” Coach Sida told The-SportsNation.

“We have had a couple of friendly matches in between the pre-season period which we didn’t do well in some, we lost to She Corporates, Lady Doves, Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga and some boys teams too.

“Our targets this season is to see that the team books a place next season in the FWSL by putting a good competition in the league, playing good entertaining football that is result oriented and becoming also the best branded team in the league by playing a tik-tak type of football.”

On the improvements they have made, Coach Sida explained that they improved greatly on the side of organization and putting the team through modern trainings.

“Welfare is the best with a modern balanced diet for the players, we have managed to keep these players together in the hostel having good security,” added Sida.

She Maroons have added four new signings to beef up their squad in every position as they aim to achieve their objectives.

The new additions are Goalkeeper Achanit Moreen from Lango Queens, Center back Nambutya Susan from Jinja United WFC, Utility player Mbambu Bridget from Bunyaruguru and Kasubo Lilian a center forward from Jinja United WFC.

“These players will help us greatly especially in their respective positions because they have brought stiff competition in the team.

“Players don’t want to lose their positions easily so they have to work extra harder and this will make the team perform well.”

Captain Millicent Namwembe

The team will be captained by Namwembe Millicent who was the top scorer in the FUFA Women Elite League with six goals in 6 matches.

Namwembe said: “As a team captain, I will encourage team work, commitment, hard work and discipline in the team coupled with healthy competition and respect amongst ourselves and opponents.”

Namwembe joined She Maroons from UCU Lady Cardinals after leaving Kenya’s Old Gold FC.

“We look forward to hold on the ground in the Women Super League and atleast be among the top five positions of the league.”

As a striker, Namwembe will hope to score as many goals and help her team.

“My objective is to help my team perform well in the league and score many goals as one of the dependable strikers of the team.”
