Bad Day In Office – Ateker FC Coach Poline after Uganda Cup Exit

North East Fourth Division side Ateker FC Head Coach Cyrus Poline says they had a bad day in office after his side was knocked out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32.

A first half brace from Fred Amaku and Abraham Tusubira late goal inspired Maroons past Ateker FC in the Uganda Cup round of 32 match at the Soroti Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Ateker FC Head Coach Cyrus Poline said that they wanted to win the game and it was evident in the opening minutes of the game but they failed to bury their chances.

“I would really say it was a bad day in office, we got a result that we never wanted,” Poline said.

“We came in this game demanding a win but you know whenever you go for these knock out games there’s no draw, you either win or you lose.”

“We had a couple of few chances in the first minute of the halftime but we failed to utilise them, the game kind of went abit astray but the last quarter of the game we picked up, the boys were pressing & we were possessing them half field but it was a little too late.”

Despite losing 3-0, Poline was proud of his players for putting up a good fight as well as the fans who rallied behind them.

“I would really say it was a bad day in office but I would really want to thank my boys, they played well, the fan base behind us was just okay, they gave us confidence,” he added.

Poline thinks that experience is the reason why Maroons FC won the game though he has good players but their experience couldn’t match that of the FUFA Big League side.

“It was only that Maroons is an experienced side and for us being a fourth Division team yes we have good players but I think somewhere somehow we lacked experience”.

Most teams that were knocked out complained of the referees officiating but Poline credits them for handling the game well.

“The officiating was okay we have no complaints about it, the referee was just on his best.”

“And I would really want to thank the fan base, they gave us the hope, they stayed with us till the last minute we fought our best and I say this is not the end of us, we shall come back next season stronger and even more stronger.”
