NBL: KIU Titans Overcome UPDF Tomahawks

KIU Titans outlasted UPDF Tomahawks in a closely contested NBL encounter on Wednesday at Lugogo.

The Titans however had to recover from a horrible second quarter and many turnovers to pick a result.

KIU had a decent start to lead 23-15 after the first quarter but scored just two points off 1-of-13 shooting in the second half to slip 25-32 at halftime.

But they regained their mojo and got things going again to lead by a point after the third quarter.

And then Ahmed Kassa scored three back-to-back threes inside the last frame for KIU to knit a 11-3 run that helped them take command on their way to sealing a 74-66 victory.

Isaiah Mabeny Ater and Fidel Okoth scored a joint-game high 18 points, the latter adding 17 rebounds. Joseph Chuma had a double double of 15 points and 20 rebounds while Kassa added 12 points for the Titans.

Jonathan Egau (12) was the only UPDF player to score in double digits while David Opolot, Brian Opiyo and Arthur Wanyoto had nine points each.

KIU who finished with 23 turnovers, have now won 14 games and move second on the table while UPDF Tomahawks suffered their ninth loss of the season.
