KIU Titans beat Power 68-59 to take game One of the Tusker-Lite sponsored National Basketball League play offs at Lugogo.

The Titans, leading the best of three series 1-0, will progress to the semifinals if they win Game two on Sunday.

Power showed a good fight in opening exchanges and threw down a gauntlet when they led 25-24 at halftime.

But KIU returned from the Rest rooms a different animal, winning the third quarter 24-13 and held on to take a crucial victory.

A section of KIU students silenced a sizeable Power crowd at Lugogo, and the Kansanga-based side may be cruising to a semifinal unscathed if Power fail to improve ahead of Sunday’s matchup.

Isaiah Mabeny Ater (19), Okoth Henry (15) and Fidel Okoth (11) scored in double figures for the Titans who are targeting a second trip to the NBL finals.

The five-time champions had Soro Geoffrey and Innocent Ochera garner 12 points each but the whole team was hard done by rugged defence while they shot an ugly 3-of-25 from outside.

Power missed Francis Kasinde with an injury while Coach Bernis Ankunda was absent as well.

Winner of this series meet winner between Blazers Vs KCCA at the semis.

Angels stunned KCCA Leopards to take game one as the Women’s matchup lived to the billing.

Action continues on Saturday at YMCA with three games, including number one seeding Nam Blazers who take on KCCA Panthers.
