SC Villa Confirm 20 New Signings

Uganda premier League side SC Villa have confirmed their new arrivals and departures ahead of the new 2022/23 Uganda premier League season.

The 16-time record champions have confirmed 20 new arrivals and 13 players who have left the club.

Among the notable signings is midfielder Ivan Sserubiri, who joins from URA FC.

Forward Ivan Bogere also joined the side from Proline FC. He had spent the previous season at Wakiso Giants on loan.

Pistis Barenge, goalkeeper Martin Elungat, Frank Kalule, Najib Tusaba all join the Jogoos from now Big league side Mbarara City FC.

The other good news for the Villa faithful is that youngsters Travis Mutyaba, Oscar Mawa and Iddi Abdulwahid have not been included among departed players.

The trio were believed to be on their way out after undergoing trials in France earlier this month, with the aid of their agent Sepuya.

Per reports, these players had fallen out on renewing their marriage with Villa and were on the verge of leaving the club.

But with all the new developments, the club is yet to clarify on the stand of these players but all the three are reported back in training.

Despite all the new excitement at Villa, the club also let go of a number of players including defender Gavin Kizito, who captained the Joggos last season. The former U20 captain is believed to have left the club, after failed negotiations for a new contract.

Midfielder Sadam Juma is the other player who left the club after the end of his six months contract. He had initially joined the club in the January transfer market this year.

Young exciting midfielder Salim Abdullah crossed to URA while Nicholas Kabonge, goalkeeper Martin Senkooto, Amir Kakomo (Gaddafi), Shafik Bakaki (Gaddafi), Benson Muhindo, Benard Agele all join the long list of departures.

Ahead of the new season that gets underway on Friday, Villa have already appointed Jackson Magera as their new head coach.

The club will also host their home games at Wankulukuku stadium this seasons, shifting from Njeru where they hosted games last season.

Villa will kick start their new season as they host Gaddafi Modern FC on Sunday at Wankulukuku.
