UPDF 1-1 Express FC

URA FC played out to a goalless draw with Onduparaka in their first game of the Uganda premier League played at the Nakisunga Ssaza grounds on Saturday.

The Tax Collectors, who were hosting their first home game at a new venue, Nakisunga, failed to get off a bright start into the new season.

Head coach Sam Timbe trusted and handed Eric Ssenjobe, James Begisa and forward Derrick Nsibambi but they couldn’t save him on the day they lacked enough ideas upfront.

In the opening exchanges, it was the hosts who showed early intent for an opener with the visitors on the receiving end.

Nsibambi twice came closer to opening his account for the Tax men. First, he saw his header saved for a corner by goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga after a beautiful cross from Joachim Ojara before he sent his effort wide when Infront of goal.

In the second stanza, despite the introduction of Salim Abdullah and striker George Senkaaba, URA once again failed to break a well organized Onduparaka defence.

It is a low start for Sam Timbe, who is having a lot of new faces this season and they will need to do better than Saturday’s game if they are to compete for the title this season.

For Onduparaka, it is a point earned away from home but they will need to step up in the coming games.
