Uganda To Host CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers

Uganda will host CECAFA U-15 Boys Championship and the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone.

The new developments were confirmed from a released statement from the CECAFA secretariat on Monday this week.

“The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) have confirmed they will host the CECAFA U-15 Boys Championship and the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone, reads part of the statement from CECAFA.

It is big news to Uganda hosting such big tournaments that attract a couple of countries with big sides.

Back then last year in August, Uganda’s She Corporate missed out on a CAF Women’s Champions League ticket after their 1-0 defeat to Simba Queens in the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers final held in Tanzania.

It was an impressive campaign for She Corporate, who had earlier eliminated Commercial Bank of Ethiopia at the semifinal stage.

And this year, Kampala Queens, who were crowned Champions with four games to spare will represent the country at the Cecafa CAF Women’s Champions League.

They will bank on their home advantage so as to make history as the first ever country to reach the final stage.

The likely venues for these tournaments are St. Mary’s stadium in Kitende, FUFA technical Centre in Njeru and MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo.
