UPDF Tomahawks pulled out a shocker with a 66-62 victory over Power in the NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

It’s a big result for the Army side who missed Ferdinand Odama and David Opolot who were recently banned by FUBA.

The win is the second for UPDF in five games having beaten Kampala Rockets in their opening game at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

Power who trailed for the best part of the game, tied the encounter 62-62 with Guellord Mobanza scoring a three with few seconds on the clock.

But Jonathan Egau scored back-to-back layups at the home straight to hand Baker Kyambadde’s side a deserved win.

Egau finished the game with 15 points while Andrew Gang (13pts, 10rebs) and Arthur Wanyoto (10pts, 15rebs) scored double doubles.

Mobanza scored a game high 29 points but lacked enough support, with none on Power roster reaching in double figures in scoring.

Power struggled at the boards and were out rebounded 69-47 in a game they shot 22-of-74 from the field.

The defeat is the third this season for Timothy Odeke’s Power who were earlier beaten by City Oilers and Nam Blazers.

In the first game, UCU Lady Canons eased past Angels to win 73-62, with Bridget Aber and Aziida Nabayunga scoring 19 and 16 points respectively.

The win is the fourth for Coach Nicholas Natuhereza’s side and puts them atop ahead of JKL Lady Dolphins who have played a game less.
