USSSA Rugby: Four battle it out for spot in the final

Defending champions Namilyango College are set to take on St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) in one of the semifinal fixtures of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) – rugby tournament.

Earlier this year, Namilyango College suffered a loss to SMACK in their latest encounter, the pool stage fixture of the central schools rugby league, with youngstar Matthew Musasizi being the difference maker.

The two sides are set to clash again on Friday 12th May, 2023 in the nationals semifinal, with both sides looking to secure their place in the final.

Title holders-Namilyango College, will be hoping to prove that they are still the team to beat in this tournament while SMACK will want to cement their supremacy over their rivals, and redeem themselves coming from a 3-0 defeat to Kings College Budo in their final pool B fixture.

On the other side of the draw, MACOS will take on Kings College Budo.

Budo have been in dominant form throughout the tournament, winning all their pool games with an assertive victory over SMACK. The side has widely been regarded as the title favourites in this years’ campaign.

However, MACOS have also been impressive, and have shown that they have what it takes to put up a commendable fight and go all the way.

They too, have won all their group fixtures defeating Ntare School, Katatumba Academy and earned a walkover from Masaka SS in pool C.

Girls
Entebbe Airforce continued their title defence with a crucial 12-06 victory over their biggest competition, St Katherine, putting themselves in a great spot to retain the titleship.

Kijjabwemi SS shared spoils with St Jude SS with a final score of 3-3.
