National Rugby 7s Back: First Circuit Pool Draw Revealed

Uganda Rugby Union has officially confirmed the pools for the highly anticipated first circuit of the 2023 National Rugby 7s series.

Scheduled for 1st and 2nd July at the home of the defending champions (Jinja Hippos), Dam waters —Jinja, this circuit promises to be thrilling as it’s the first of the series.

The tournament will see both men’s and women’s teams playing alongside each other, a new development by URU to promote women’s rugby in Uganda.

The women’s side will see four core sides playing alongside two Lady Cranes select sides to a total of six participating teams.

In the men’s campaign, six invitational sides will be joining the already core sides to make it a total of 16 participating teams, all drawn in four pools.

Also, Edmond Tumusiime’s charges—Kitante Eagles, will be participating in their very first National 7s tournament as an invitational side.

The tournament format will see teams (both women and men), competing in a round-robin style during the pool stages, facing off against each team in their respective pool with only the top teams advancing to the knockout stages.

Pool D: KOBs, Impis, Eagles, CROCS
