National Rugby 7s: Pirates Win Second Circuit in Kitgum

Pirates Dominate Nile Special Sevens Circuit with Second Consecutive Triumph

The Stanbic Black Pirates once again emerged victorious, clinching their second circuit success at the Kitgum 7s in the second round of the National Rugby 7s

The Pirates sailed through the competition, ultimately trouncing their opponents in an almost one-sided final encounter against the Jinja Hippos, concluding with a resounding 24-0 victory.

Their remarkable performance in the 7s series remains unparalleled this far as they’ve maintained an impeccable unbeaten record

However, the path to glory was not without its challenges for the Pirates. In the quarter-final showdown against Makerere Impis, they encountered a significant hurdle.

The Sea Robbers found themselves trailing by 12 points, but their unwavering determination and indomitable spirit propelled them to stage an extraordinary comeback against six-man Impis side.

With grit and resolve, they battled their way back into the match, ultimately securing a dramatic victory in sudden death to send themselves into the last four.

In the semifinal, the champions faced Heathens who they defeated 24-7 to set up a final against Hippos, who defeated circuit one finalist—KOBs, 17-12 in the other semifinal clash.

As they bask in the glory of their back-to-back circuit triumphs, Pirates currently sit atop the series table standings, showcasing their dominance and unyielding form.

Their flawless run of results and unrivalled skill on the field have left their opponents seeing them as the team to beat.

Looking ahead, the Pirates eagerly await the upcoming third circuit, which will be hosted by themselves, in their very own home grounds at Bweyogerere’s Kings Park Arena.

The stage is set for the team to showcase their skill and dominance on familiar territory and further solidify their position as the frontrunners in the Nile Special 7s this year.

Will they continue their unbeaten streak and secure a hat-trick of circuit victories? Only time will tell.
