Eastern Region representatives BUL FC have been crowned Champions of the FUFA Juniors League-U 17 National Championships 2022-2023.

Interestingly, BUL, who have only conceeded one goal this campaign have claimed the title on a one goal difference after accumulating exactly the same points (11) as the only team that scored against them, second placed Vipers.

Vipers, like BUL also let in just one goal, but the former scored nine goals, while the latter managed upto ten, that one more.

Coming into Friday’s game at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, BUL were third best, below favorites Vipers and Prosper SA.

BUL needed to win with a heavy margin as they also prayed that the other result goes their way, and they got exactly the results they wanted from both games. They thumped Friends of Soccer 4-0, while Vipers played a goalless draw against Prosper SA

Swabiru Mpasa and Umar Waiswa in the first half, plus Richard Okello and Yasin Masambo in the second half all scored for BUL to ensure that BUL carry the trophy back home to Jinja.

Mpasa put BUL ahead as early as the seventh minute. Five minutes later, Waiswa doubled the lead for BUL. At half-time, it was 2-0 to BUL’s good.

At the hour mark, Richard Okello made it three for BUL, and with one minute left on the clock to play for, Yasin Masambo scored the fourth, putting the last nail in Friends of Soccer Academy’s coffin.
