UPDF Tomahawks are in a must-win game against fellow relegation strugglers Ndejje Angels on Friday in the National Basketball League.
With Rezlife Saints having learnt their relegation fate this week, the remaining relegation slot may be decided this Friday in what promises to be a thriller.
UPDF Tomahawks have six wins (6-14) with two games to go, while Ndejje have seven wins (7-12) with three still to play.
KCCA (8-12) whose remaining games are against Power and UCU Canons, are still in the relegation mix as well.
A loss for UPDF will relegate the Army-based side before playing Rezlife in their last game of the season.
Ndejje still have a life-line after winning an appeal that saw FUBA reinstate their two wins against City Oilers and Our Saviour.
A defeat against UPDF will mean that Ndejje will have to win their remaining two games against Rezlife and Kampala Rockets to confirm their stay.
That could not have been the case if Ndejje won an appeal against Rockets, as this fixture was supposed to be played In July but Ndejje was initially given a walkover due to Colour-clash.
But when Rockets appealed successfully, FUBA decided to schedule a replay due this Sunday.
It has been a poor season for Baker Kyambadde’s UPDF Tomahawks who lost to Ndejje 66-62 in the first round.
They beat Our Saviour 66-63 in their last recent game and will be expected to come out physical in what is arguably their biggest game of the season.
Arthur Wanyoto and Felix Mukunzi are both averaging double digits in scoring and will be their source of inspiration for a side that has suffered two relegations in a recent while.
The addition of Samuel Ajak and Gatwang Thuok has delivered the fruits for Ndejje, the latter a centre of attention in the FUBA ruling of eligibility.
The duo of Ajak and Gatwang scored a combined 62 points in the loss against KCCA Panthers, but the likes of Joseph Kumbai, Haron Alinaitwe, James Obrack, Jonathan Oketch, Trevor Mutyaba and the rest must step up.
