Bombers captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa edged closer to Paris Olympics after storming the semifinals of the African Boxing Olympic Qualifiers.
Tukamuhebwa is the remaining Ugandan boxer standing after Shafic Mawanda and Isaac Zebra Ssenyange were eliminated on Wednesday at the Quarterfinals.
Tukamuhebwa beat Dridi Mehdi of Tunisia 5-0; 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 30-26, 30-27.
And during Thursday’s semifinals, he will face a familiar opponent Colin Richarno of Mauritius who beat Nadir Abdelhaq of Mauritania.
Tukamuhebwa must win both the semifinal and final to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Shafic Mawanda lost 5-0 against Ghanian Allotey Theophilus while Isaac Zebra Ssenyange fell was beaten by Michael Pakel.
