NEC emerged triumphant with a 1-0 victory over hosts Maroons in a compelling Uganda Premier League showdown at Prisons grounds in Luzira.

The decisive moment unfolded in the 54th minute when Allan Mugalu capitalized on Joseph Dhata’s skillful control of Rashid Okocha’s long cross.

Dhata outmaneuvered Fredrick Kigozi at the by-line, delivering a precise pass to Mugalu, who clinically fired into the roof of the net.

Despite moments of tension, including missed opportunities by Jackson Nunda and Fred Amaku, the Visitors held on to leave Luzira unscathed.

The result sees Maroons struggle for consistency, for a side that ended Kitara’s unbeaten streak in their previous league encounter.

The Prison Warders now find themselves at 11 points after seven games, having suffered their second defeat of the season.

For NEC, this victory marked a commendable response following their prior loss to Gaddafi at Lugogo.

With this being their fifth win of the season, NEC has surged to third place in the league standings, boasting a total of 15 points from seven matches.
