Nam Blazers Bolster Squad Ahead of 2024 NBL Season

The Nam Blazers have strengthened their team by welcoming aboard Joseph Chuma and Daniel Gaaki.

Chuma, a forward, transitions from the KIU Titans, while Guard Gaaki makes his move from the KCCA Panthers.

During his tenure with the Titans, Chuma averaged 6 points and 8 rebounds per game with the Titans last season.

One of Chuma’s standout performances was during finals game three, where his 11-point contribution propelled the KIU Titans past the City Oilers, although the latter ultimately claimed the final series victory with a 4-1 scoreline.

Despite featuring in 24 games for the Titans, Chuma was only in the starting lineup for 12 matches.

Meanwhile, Gaaki showcased his skills as he started in 20 games for KCCA, recording averages of 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in the previous season.

These acquisitions greatly fortify the Blazers’ lineup, and further additions are anticipated before the extended Player Transfer deadline, now set for January 15, 2024.

The upcoming 2024 National Basketball League season is scheduled to officially commence on January 26, 2024.

Notably, the Namuwongo Blazers concluded their Regular Season with an impressive 17-5 record last season but chose to withdraw from the playoffs.

The Blazers articulated their rationale, stating a lack of compelling reasons to continue participating in a playoff competition that primarily offers a trophy and medals to the eventual winner.
