KCCA Overcome Villa In Kampala Derby

Friday, December 22
•SC Villa 1-2 KCCA
•Bright Stars 2-1 UPDF

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) clinched a crucial victory against SC Villa in a Kampala derby held at Wankulukuku.

The first-half strikes by Etienne Katenga and Ashraf Mugume secured the essential win for KCCA.

Despite Charles Lwanga pulling one back for the hosts, they couldn’t equalize in a closely competitive match.

Katenga capitalized on Villa’s defensive lapse, firing a shot into the roof following Gui Cungulo’s low cross in the 14th minute.

In a swift move, the visitors doubled their lead four minutes later through Mugume.

Lwanga’s header off Ivan Bogere’s corner in the 31st minute brought hope for the hosts but ultimately fell short of securing a draw.

It’s the third defeat for Villa at home this season having lost earlier to Kitara and BUL.

And it’s the fourth win of the season for KCCA, their first on the road.

Villa drop to sixth with 19 points while KCCA are 12th on the log with 13 points.

SC Villa visit Wakiso Giants on December 30 while KCCA visit UPDF FC on December 28 in Bombo.
