•SC Villa 2-1 Maroons

Patrick Jonah Kakande showcased brilliance as SC Villa secured a 2-1 victory against Maroons, marking a successful start to the Uganda Premier League’s second round at Wankulukuku.

Kakande’s second-half brace proved crucial in SC Villa’s comeback from a goal down, initiated by Fred Amaku in the first stanza.

Amaku received a pass from Abraham Tusubira outside the box, executing a quick turn before narrowly missing the target, wide of goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige.

Kakande leveled the score at the hour mark, capitalizing on a precise cut-back cross from Abasi Kyeyune.

Ten minutes later, Kakande skillfully evaded his marker, slotting the ball past the helpless goalkeeper Hanington Ssebwalunyo to complete SC Villa’s comeback.

Despite initially trailing, the Jogoos dominated the game and showed improvement from there on.

Hakim Kiwanuka had opportunities to alter the game’s course if he converted both chances against the opposing goalkeeper.

With this victory, SC Villa surpassed Maroons, claiming fourth place with 29 points, while Maroons slipped to fifth, trailing by a point.
