Paidha Black Angels Advance to Playoffs in West Nile Regional League

Paidha Black Angels, based in Zombo District, emerged as champions of the Nyagak Zone in the West Nile Regional League.

Despite a 2-2 draw against relegation-threatened Pakwach Super Eagles at Bar Okoro Stadium on Saturday, including Opar Jacob’s brace, the team’s playoff fate was sealed as closest competitors Pakwach Young Stars fell to Alpha Rising Stars (LIA FC) 7-2.

With one match remaining in the season, Paidha Black Angels have amassed 50 points from 21 matches, leading second-placed Pakwach Young Stars by six points. Their record includes 15 wins, five draws, and one defeat.

They share the highest goal tally with Pakwach Young Stars (32) and have conceded the fewest goals in the league (10).

After unsuccessful attempts in the previous two seasons, the Paidha-based team regrouped, appointing former Nebbi Central tactician Hassan Nassur and Chancelee Morgan from neighboring Paidha United as coaches, under the leadership of former Chairperson Jakony Robert.

The squad was bolstered by notable acquisitions such as former Onduparaka, Arua Hill, and Mbarara City attacker Gadaffi Gadinho, along with midfielder Joel Jangeyambe from Onduparaka, Blacks Power, and Nebbi Central. Other additions include former Nebbi Central captain Yoacel Raymond and Masaza Cup winner Abdul Bagenda, named the best goalkeeper in last year’s Masaza Cup.

Key players, including top scorer Opar Jacob, Opakrwoth Benjamin, Lutakome Juma, Odongo Chris, and experienced defender Odagiu Khalid, were retained.

Having clinched the top spot in their zone, Paidha Black Angels now await the champions of the Nile Zone as they pursue the West Nile Regional League title before challenging the Northern Regional League champions.

Meanwhile, competition for the summit remains intense in the Nile Zone, with Araka, Total, and Kochi Urban contending for the top position.

From their last home match against Pakwach Super Eagles in the West Nile Regional League, Paidha Black Angels earned six million six hundred sixty-one thousand one hundred shillings.

The team will conclude the season with an away match against Nyahama FC as they gear up for the playoffs.
