UPDF held on to a 1-0 victory over Bright Stars in the Uganda Premier League at the Bombo Military Barracks Ground.

Bernard Muwanga scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot to give the hosts the all important points.

It’s a perfect revenge for UPDF FC after falling to Bright Stars in the reverse fixture.

The Victory is crucial that it moves the Army side to just a point above the red zone.

The hosts started off brightly and could have taken the lead as early as first minute but Achumu’ goal-bound effort was cleared off the line by Kato Samuel.

The Army side could have been in front in the first half but were too wasteful in front of the goal.

In the second half they re-grouped and broke the deadlock in the 50th minute through Muwanga from the spot after substitute Nsimbe Jibril Badru was brought down in the box.

Bright Stars also initiated a number of attacks but all their efforts were expertly stopped by Goalkeeper Richard Anyama.

He twice made two reflex saves to deny Noordin Bunjo before palming Nelson Senkatuka goal bound freekick.

UPDF still in the red zone in the 14th place with 21 points after 24 matches while Bright Stars are 10th with 30 points.

They will both return to action on Tuesday 7th as UPDF take on KCCA at the MTN Omondi Stadium while Bright Stars will host NEC FC at the Kavumba Recreation Ground.
