The nominees for Fortebet Real Stars Sports awards for the concluded month of February have been revealed.
The awards are intended to reward excellence in sports monthly.
The organisers have confirmed that the awarding ceremony will be held on Monday, March 16 at Copper Chimney.
Beside Fortbet, Jude Color Solutions are the other sponsors on board.
The categories include Best Rugby player, Footballer, Football coach, Swimmer and Rugby.

Rugby Nominees:
Aaron Ofoyroth (Heathens) – Despite being absent for five league games at home, he has been a main pillar in the Rugby Sevens National Team double outings of Viña del Mar in Chile and Montevideo in Uruguay in the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series, a primary new qualification format of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
Ofoyroth finished the South America tour with 38 points including three trys against Paraguay, one against strong Germans and Brazil.
Uganda managed to finish 7th out of the 16 teams, to be among the 8 teams that qualified for the second and last HSBC World Rugby Sevens series qualifier to be held in Hong Kong this October.
Joseph Oyet (Heathens) – Another contender for the month of February, his ability to lift a club of major honor like Heathens, can’t be left out without being awarded.
Played 4 games out of the 5, Heathens played in February, that is to say, 25 points and others to mention collected from Buffaloes home and away, Rams and Rhinos, his ability to kick through the white poles has helped Heathens to keep the unbeaten run and currently standing top of the league log with 58 points.
Daudi Semwami (Betway Kobs) – Played 5 games, a double against Rhinos, Impis, Jinja Hippos and Warriors, with 20 points, and his ability to push the through up-front through the wing, has helped Kobs to maintain the second place in the Rugby League with 53 points.
Footballers
Brian Aheebwa (Mbarara City) – Out of the six games the striker managed to play for Mbarara City in both league and Uganda Cup in February he scored six goals. Four in the league from five games while a brace as City eliminated Faith, Hope and Love in the round of 32 of Uganda Cup.
Saidi Kyeyune (URA) – The midfielder scored five goals in five goals for URA in all competitions. Two goals were in the league with two assists. He scored a hattrick as URA thumped Nyamityobora 8-2 in round of 32 of Uganda Cup. He produced man of match performance as URA beat table leaders Vipers 3-1 in the league
David Bagoole (Busoga United) – The attacking midfielder produced man of match performances in three consecutive league victories for Busoga United. This was against Maroons (1-0), URA (3-0) and Wakiso(1-0). Against URA he scored and created an assist while against Wakiso he created an assist for Sharif Kimbowa’s goal. He was also on target as Busoga beat BUL 2-1 in the Jinja derby but didn’t live to task as Busoga lost 3-0 to Bright Stars.
Robert Ssentongo – The veteran striker has been influential for Kyetume that is seeking to survive relegation. He has scored seven goals in six games he featured for the Mukono side in both league and Uganda Cup in February. Six goals came from the league with four assists and man of match performances in two games. He equalized for Kyetume against Kigezi Home Boys in the Cup and later they went on to win 4-3 in spot kicks to qualify for the round of 32.
Frank Kalanda – Four goals in six games in both league and Uganda Cup. Two against KCCA and URA have seen the striker scored 11 goals in the league this season. He was also on the score sheet against Maroons in the Uganda Cup although Express was eliminated.
Football Coaches
Jackson Mayanja (Kyetume) – Out of the six games Kyetume played Jackson Mayanja was charge of four while two taken care by his assistant David Mutono. But in even the two games he was not in charge against Wakiso (1-1) and Proline (1-0) we know Mutono followed the instructions of Mayanja for Kyetume to pick four points against Wakiso and Proline.
Brian Ssenyondo (Mbarara City) – Five games in charge with City in the league and Uganda Cup. He won four and lost one. Defeating Express and Police 1-0 each was one of the remarkable moments.
Sam Ssimbwa (URA) – Five games in charge in both league and Uganda Cup, he won three ,drew one and lost one comfortably against Busoga United 3-0.
Abbey Kikomeko (Busoga United) – Five games in charge in the league he won four and lost one. The 3-0 victory over URA was there remarkable moment in February. He has seen Busoga move to the fourth position in the league
Wasswa Bbosa (Express) – Four games he has been in charge in February ever since he replaced sacked George Ssimwogerere he won two, drew one and lost one. Playing to 1-1 draw with KCCA at Lugogo was the best moment for coach Bbosa.
Swimmers
Kirabo Namutebi – 15 years older Swims in 15 and over category
- she is third on seals league table having concluded the first round with 14 points (8th Feb). Uganda collected six medals in CANA Zone IV Championships, 20 – 23 February 2020, Gaborone, Kirabo collected five medals out of six
Avice MEYA – Bronze 200M butterfly
Alexis kituuka – swimmer with seals swimming club. Tops the seals league meet with 16 points. She swims in the 15 and over category just like kirabo.
Boxers
Shadir Musa (Welter weight) – The National Boxing team Captain punched his way to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games through a box-off card during the Africa Olympic qualifiers that were held in Dakar, Senegal last month. He is the only Ugandan that qualified to Tokyo out of the 13 boxers that represented the country in Senegal.
At the tournament he had 4 fights, won 3, he beat Ghana’s Jessie Lartey at the box-off to book his ticket to Japan.
David Ssemujju (Middle weight) – Ssemujju could have failed to qualify to Japan but his performance in Dakar can’t go unmentioned.
During the qualifiers, he finished on the semi- finals before securing a box off card against Cameroon’s Wilfried Nsengue whom he lost to through a 3-2 split decision.
This was Ssemujju’s second split decision loss in the same tournament having lost on the same margin against Algeria’s Younes Nemouchi.
With such scores he missed by a whisker to book his berth to the Tokyo games.
Emily Nakalema (welter).
Both Nakalema and Catherine Nanziri won bronze medals in Dakar and they are the only Ugandan female boxers who won atleast a single bout in Dakar.
The only difference that awards Nakalema a slot to join the list of Shadir Musa and Ssemujju is the manner in which both lost at the semi-finals.
At the semis Nakalema lost to Mozambique’s Acinda Panguana by unanimous decision while Nanziri lost to Algeria’s Romaysa Boulam by RSC (The referee stopped this contest) to save Nanziri’s life after seeing the Algerian was too powerfully to her.
