Captain Juliet Nalukenge bagged a brace as Uganda put five past Tanzania in the FIFA U17 Women World Cup Qualifiers.

Uganda eliminate Tanzania who had won 2-1 in the first leg in Dar Es Salam.

Margaret Kunihira, Fauziah Najjemba and Grace Aluka score one each at Lugogo in a free-entrance match.

Uganda will face Cameroon in the next round.

Uganda Show Class

After a 2-1 loss in the first leg in a game they scored first, Ayub Khalifa’s side needed a at least 1-0 win to qualify.

The team needed an inch, but went away with a mile.

The side showed an early intent when Margret Kunihira had her shot over the bar as they pushed for an early goal before Nalukenge had her strike kept out by Tanzania’s Ali Fumukazi.

Kunihira later had her goal canceled out after she comitted foul on Tanzanian goalkeeper Asha Ismail and the girls kept pushing.

Forward Najjemba missed a tap in from Kunihira cross with the keeper beaten.

Nalukenge had another open chance but tapped inches wide off a Shamirah Naluggya through pass.

With a minute to the half time break, Kunihira broke the deadlock when she slotted in from a lose ball, and that set the platform what turned out to be a demolition.

Minutes into the second stanza, Asha Ismail denied Juliet Nalukenge what would have been her first goal of the day when she cleared her powerful header off the line.

In the 74th minute, Kampala Queens’ Najjemba scored the second for Uganda with a beautiful free kick to hand Uganda cushion.

In a space of four minutes, defender Aluka scored the third for from her half, beating Asha Ismail who had left her goal.

With three minutes to the 90th minute, Nalukenge rose high to head in a well delivered Aluka free kick.

In the three added minutes, Nalukenge scored the fifth, lopping in a long ball from Naluggya.

Tanzania Resistance Broken

Tanzania banked on good history against Uganda, having not lost to Uganda in Women football in the recent past.

The visitors’ forward Joyce Meshak would have had a goal for her side but she was denied by the woodwork.

Protasia Mbunda missed a tap in from a Aisha Masaka cross after she had won possession from Aluka.
