Afrobasket: Tunisia Defends Title, Final Standings Revealed

*Gold: Ivory Coast 75-78 Tunisia


Tunisia defended their Afrobasket title when they were crowned champions on Sunday at the magnificent Kigali Arena.

Tunisia beat Ivory Coast 78-75 in the final to finish the tournament unbeaten.

Salah Mejri scored a game high 22 points, Michael Roll and Omar Abada added 18 and 10 points respectively for the champions.

Souleymane Diabate contributed 20 points while Jean Francois Keba added 10 in losing effort.

This, is the third Afrobasket title for Tunisia who also won the championship in 2011 and 2017.

Tunisia’s Makram Ben Romdhane was named the AfroBasket 2021 Most Valuable Player.

Romdhane was also named in the All-Star team of the tournament alongside teammate Omar Abada, Gorgui Dieng (Senegal), Matt Costello (Ivory Coast) and Walter Tavares (Cape Verde).
