Kampala International University player Muftau Yinusa Ayinia has broken silence on his six-month ban.

The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary panel Muftau for six months from all football activities for breaching Article 31(2) and 31(3) of the FUFA Competitions Rules during Match-day 5/10 between St Lawrence BSC and KIU BSC on 30th January at Mutoola Beach Resort.

According to the FCDP, Muftau was seen violently attacking a match official contrary to the FUFA Competitions Rules.

Muftau, whose sanction started with immediate effect on Thursday 17th February to Wednesday 17th August 2022, has responded to his ban saying it was unfair because he was expressing his feelings.

“I was actually banned for verbally expressing my feelings towards the Uganda Beach Soccer Officials for their unprofessional officiating against KIU with st Lawrence,” he told The-SportsNation.

“The ban is really unfair and I even got shocked seeing it because I never attacked the official. Even those who watched our game yet not even our fans complained about the game, we even had a penalty which was disallowed and I have got the video, a friend of mine recorded it luckily.”

St Lawrence University won the match 4-3. Sulaiman Ochero, Joshua Lubwana and Baker Lukooya with a brace for St Lawrence University while Itayohai Isaac Eshioke and Muftau Yinusa Ayinia scored a brace for KIU.

KIU BSC sits second on the log with 3 points after 2 matches in the six teams Monsoon Group 6 points below leaders St Lawrence BSC.

“I don’t regret anything because I am human, though we might be different in the way we control or express our anger due to situations, well the only vulgar word I used was ‘f**king’ officiating.”

Muftau who scored a brace in the 4-3 loss against leaders St Lawrence, admits his side will miss him and he thinks KIU will appeal the ban.

“Well of course my team will miss me because they know I give my all when on the field and also being a vital player for the team.

“I think my team would make an appeal because the ban is unfair.

“My request to the Association is that they should please appoint some professional Officials who could be monitoring every games to avoid unfair officiating because I believe everyone is equal and we all deserve equal respect”.

“And I also believe no team should be favoured than another, lastly the tendency of some coaches whispering into match Officials’ ears shouldn’t be allowed in the game.”
