Zainah Nandede: An Interview With Uganda U20 Winger

Uganda U20 and Kampala Queens winger Zainah Nandede is one of the promising Youngsters in Uganda Women Football.

Gifted with pace and good passing skills, Nandede sealed a move to FUFA Women Super League side Kampala Queens earlier this year in February, joining from Mbale based side Kataka She FC.

Last week, The SportsNation caught up with Nandede in an exclusive interview and she had much to share in regards to her Football journey.

SportsNation: Who is Zainah Nandede?

Nandede: “I’m Nandede Zainah, a forward now at Kampala Queens.I was born on 15th October 2003 in Mbale. My mother is Kafuko Zainah and my dad is Wusokela Hakim.

SportsNation: Take us through your Education background

Nandede: “I studied at Methel primary School since my P.1. I joined secondary at Singo secondary school in 2015, in 2016 I later joined Nkoma secondary School up to 2017 for my senior Four. Then 2019, I joined Amusi college in Bukedea where I sat my Senior six from.Currently am going to do business in Mubs at Nakawa.”

SportsNation: Where did you start playing football from?

Nandede: I started way back in my school days as a School girl in my high school days playing for Kataka She in Mbale.

SportsNation: What is your best moment football?

Nandede: “When I got my first call to the U17 National team, I felt so good like any other player who receives national team call up for the first time. Since then, I have featured on the team in various tournaments.

SportsNation: How did you land the Kampala Queens deal?

Nandede: “During the Covid-19, the tournament format league we had at Njeru, I had to put a good display to showcase my talent and that’s when I got my first Call to play in Cecafa U20 and I think I had a good tournament. This as well attracted attention from the Queens.

SportsNation: Who are your role models locally and Internationally?

Nandede : “Locally it is Hassifa Nassuna who plays for UCU Lady Cardinals and internationally, I admire Marta Vieira Da Silva , a Brazil Women Natiobal team forward.

SportsNation: What do you love doing in your free time?

Nandede: “I love playing football because you can’t play without it’s love. I also recite the Quaran during my free time and swimming.

SportsNation. What are your targets in your first season at Kampala Queens?

Nandede: “I want to help my team become champions this season”

This season, Nandede has already established herself as a mainstay at Kampala Queens. She has managed three goals each coming against UCU Lady Cardinals, She Corporates and She Maroons.
