Ndejje Angels Vs Tropical Royals: Win or Burst

Wednesday, August 10
•Ndejje University Angels Vs Tropical Royals – 6:30pm
•Our Saviour Vs Power – 8:30pm

It’s squeaky bum time for Tropical Royals and Ndejje University Angels as the two sides meet in a National Basketball League relegation battle.

Three teams are being relegated to Men’s Division One, with two slots already being confirmed – Falcons and Victoria University.

The remaining slot is likely to be taken by either Tropical Royals (8-14) or Ndejje University (9-13) who will both end their regular season against UCU Canons.

A loss for Tropical Royals on Wednesday will see the side back to Lower division with a game to spare, after a season in top flight.

But a loss for Ndejje Angels on Wednesday may see the side go down if they go on to fall against UCU on Sunday.

It’s strong to note that Our Saviour, KCCA Panthers and JKL Dolphins have 10 wins each and Tropical Royals’ win on Wednesday may drag them back into the relegation dog fight.

Ndejje looked like a side guaranteed to go down after early struggles but have lifted themselves up including winning their last three games.

On Saturday, they recovered from 20 points down to beat Victoria University in a game they trailed from start until a Hassan Ssentamu buzzer-beating three to win 76-73 at YMCA court in Wandegeya.

Pint-sized point Guard Haron Alinaitwe and forward Samuel Ajak who is averaging 17 points and 16 rebounds this season, will be integral for the Angels.

After a promising start in the first round, Tropical Royals have since ran out of steam and have won thrice in the second round.

They were torn to pieces by Nam Blazers in their last game on Saturday, losing by 58 points in a match they barely threatened; making 29 turnovers and shooting 33% from the field.

Only Juma Osman and Davis Apuuli scored in double figures while the former picked six rebounds, the highest tally on the team!

And as they go into their last and probably their biggest game of the season, coach Brian Rugyendo will hope that his army double their efforts.
