Preview: New looking URA Seek Perfect Start

A new look URA FC will be hoping for a perfect start into the new season when they welcome Onduparaka at Nakisunga Ssaza grounds in Mukono on Saturday.

The Tax Collectors come into this new season with a number of new faces after a busy transfer market.

Among the notable signings at the club is George Senkaaba who joined from Express, Eric Ssenjobe from Police.

They also added in exciting midfielder Salim Abdullah from Villa, right back James Begisa.

The club also made changes in their technical bench, bringing in Baker Mbowa, Ali Zinda among others.

And despite all these changes, head coach Sam Timbe says his side is ready to compete given the long pre season time they have had.

“We have had enough time for training almost one month and we want to have a good start. My new players are all capable and they are ready for competition, he told the club’s media on Friday.

About the season’s targets, Timbe revealed that they want achieve more than the previous season.

“We want to achieve a lot this season and the win on Saturday give us a go ahead.

But despite the new changes in the team, URA also lost a couple of players including their own top scorer in Steven Mukwala, who joined Ghana’s Asante Kotoko.

Cromwell Rwothomio and Ashraf Mandela crossed to rivals Vipers to mention but a few.

The club already confirmed that they will play their first three home games at Nakisunga before moving to Lugazi Municipal stadium.

Against Onduparaka, URA, who finished third last season will be targeting maximum points to get off a good start.

Onduparaka start life under Head coach Hamza Kalanzi

The visitors, Onduparaka will start life with new head coach Hamza Kalanzi.

The CAF B licensed coach was announce on his new role in July this year, replacing George Lutalo who coached the west Nile based club last season.

At Onduparaka, he finds new faces as well, after the departure of numerous players, including last season’s captain Muhammad Shaban, who was the shinning star for the Caterpillars.

Ahead of his first game, Kalanzi said.
“I promise to do my best because this is a new team, new players but as a coach I have to adopt very quick, he told the club’s media.

“URA is a very good team but we are also good and the boys are well. Every player knows what we are up to that is three points and if we get the needed rest, it will drive us to more good results in the season.”

In the concluded transfer market, the club added in 11 new faces, including former Wakiso Giants striker Amos Muwonge.

They also retained a couple of senior players in Davis Mayanja, Gaddafi Gaddinho among others.

Against the Tax Collectors, away from home, Onduparaka will have eyes on any positive result to avoid early relagation scares like it was the previous season.
