Najjuma Jets In Ahead of Zone V Championship

Centre Maria Najjuma has boosted the Gazelles camp ahead of the Zone Five Championship that tip off on Tuesday, February 14 at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

Najjuma arrived on Sunday an will be part of Monday’s training session at midday.

Jannon Otto, the other foreign-based player (naturalised) on the team, will be joining the team on Monday and so is the newly appointed head coach Alberto Antuna.

Najjuma, 19, will be set for his senior team debut having represented the Country at the 2019 U16 Zone V Championship in Rwanda where she led in Rebounding.

“She gives us inside presence especially defending in rebounding and ability to defend the post,” Coach Nicholas Natuhereza has said of the player.

Najjuma has featured for Javon Ladies and joined NBA Africa Academy last year.

The Fixtures and format will be issued later after the Technival meeting at Onomo hhotel on Monday evening.

Five Countries – Egypt, Rwanda, South Sudan, Kenya and Uganda – will take part in the five-team round robin tournament.

The top team (Champion) will qualify for the Women Afrobasket in Rwanda in July.
