West Nile Regional League: Tear Gas As Paidha Derby Ends Prematurely

Atyero Deogracious scored a would-be late controversial winner for Paidha United against Paidha Black Angels in the heated Paidha Derby that eventually ended prematurely on Sunday

Atyero looked to have fouled defender Odagiu Khalid in a one-on-one situation with a push at the back before slotting past Goalkeeper Oyirwoth Jonathan in the 87th minute.

The hosts’ fans who felt undone by the referee’s decision to let the goal stand, couldn’t hide their anger.

The Security Officers reacted quickly with tear gas and gunshot to dispatch the fans after the home crowd looked uncontrollable pelting water bottles, stones in the field.

The Derby was animated right from the word go, and the fans expressed their discontent for every decision that did not go their way.

The hosts’ striker Lutakome Juma was pushed at the back by defender Abdu Aziz in the box after out muscling the defender with just the Goalkeeper to beat to the dismay of the fans who thought it was surely a penalty.

A moment later, Opar Jacob’s goal was cancelled for offside heading home a nice delivery from Odongo Chris.

Oromchan Villa’s side who were the dominant side in the second half, were denied with Lutakome and Opar coming closest including the former hitting the woodwork.
