Big League: NEC Keep Promotion Chances Bright

NEC FC came from a goal down as they picked a hard fought 2-1 win over Kyetume in a game held at Bugolobi on Thursday.

Second half goals from Tonny Kiberu and a late Strike from Oscar Ssesazi ensured that the Bugolobi based side completed a come back.

Gideon odongo had earlier scored in his own net to put Kyetume ahead at half time.

It was a needed win for NEC FC, who are eyeing promotional places on the first time of asking.

They now moved to 55 points in the third position and are now one win away to being promoted.

At halftime, Odongo’s own goal at the stroke of half time was the difference between both sides.

But NEC, who were dorminant will rue missed chances on a day they dorminated from word go.

Kiberu missed on two occasions with a keeper to beat, Oscar Ssesazi saw his effort saved for a corner.

And even at the restart, it was all for NEC as started a come back.

Once again, they missed a couple of chances – Kiberu was denied while in the area before Mato sent a weak effort when inside the area.

But finally, their endless efforts paid off in the 70th minute when Kiberu beat his markers before sending his effort into the top corner to level matters.

They continued pressing the Kyetume backline, on a day the visitors barely threatened.

And finally, in added time, Ssesazi rose highest to node in a well delivered corner from Richard Ajuna, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations.

And that was last piece of action to hand NEC all the three needed points.

The win puts NEC in a good position to join the UPL. They will visit Kataka on the last day next week on thursday and will need nothing but victory
