Kitara and Mbarara City have earned promotion to the Uganda Premier League with a game to spare!

Kitara thrashed relegated Adjumani TC in the FUFA Big League game at Paridi Playground whole Mbarara overcame Kaaro Karungi.

Paul Mucureezi, George Ssenkaba and Paddy Muhumuza inspired the Royals to a comfortable 3-0 victory.

With 58 points at the summit, Kitara FC are five points above fourth-placed Police FC.

A goal each from Jude Semugabi and Henry Kitegenyi handed the Ankole Lions a needed win.

With only one game to the season climax, Sam Simbwa’s charges will shift focus to the title on the final day as they host Kaaro Karungi at Kigaaya.

And, they will go toe-to toe with Second placed Mbarara City who are just one point behind them.

NEC and Police to fight for the remaining third place on last day of the season.

Kitara FC started brightly with an intension of an early goal but Moses Sseruyidde corner kick was tipped over the bar by the Goalkeeper.

Ssenkaba twice came close to giving Kitara the lead but he couldn’t bury neither of the chances.

The breakthrough finally came in the 32nd minute through Mucureezi from a well curled free kick that hit the post before going in to give Kitara the lead.

He could have added another seven minutes later but his long range shot hit the side net after the Goalkeeper was out of position before releasing Ssenkaba who smashed the ball wide.

The visitors started the second half from were they left.

And in the 46th minute, Mucureezi turned provider for Ssenkaba who fired the ball past the Goalkeeper to double his side’s lead.

Six minutes into the hour mark, Muhumuza headed home a Sseruyidde corner kick to make it three for Kitara.

Kitara FC are still at summit with 58 points after 29 matches while Adjumani Town Council are 15th with 26 points in 29 matches.

What Next

The FUFA Big League will climax on Thursday 18th May.

Adjumani Town Council will visit Luweero United at Luweero Ground while Kitara FC will host Kaaro Karungi at Kigaaya playground.
