The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) President Moses Magogo has admitted that the Uganda Premier League trophy is not in a good condition and needs to be redecorated.
This comes after criticism from Football fanatics who took to social media to blast the old fashioned gong.
Vipers retained the title on goal difference after a 5-0 thrashing of Busoga United at the St Mary’s stadium to leapfrog SC Villa to the summit and level on 53 points with KCCA.
During the trophy celebration, Images showed the trophy in a sorry state and this raised alot of mockery from the fans.
During the weekly show on FUFA TV that airs every Thursday, Magogo welcomed the positive criticism of the league trophy and pledged that next season it will have a new look.
“It is a fact the StarTimes UPL trophy is not good,” Magogo admitted.
“As FUFA, we took the feedback about the trophy in good faith. I take responsibility and assure all lovers of the Ugandan game that a revamp is coming.”
In 1968, the National first Division League was founded . It was previously known as the Uganda Super League but changed in 2014/2015 after new management took over.
Prisons FC were the inaugural winners of the league in the 1968/1969 season.
SC Villa are the Record champions with 16 league titles but they last won it in 2004 under Sam Timbe.
