Uganda Cranes Playmaker Allan Okello is impressed with the fitness of the squad after the conclusion of the league ahead of the Algeria match.

Uganda Cranes will host Algeria on Sunday 18th June in the AFCON Qualifiers 2023 in Cameroon at the Japoma Stadium.

Speaking to the media on Thursday after training at East High School, Ntinda, Allan Okello highlighted on the readiness of the players ahead of the must win game.

“I would say the training has been wonderful so far,” Okello started.

“All the boys are back from the league, the league is done and everyone is at their highest”.

On the changes in the squad, Okello said that he’s glad that Local based players are considered.

“We expected they were going to be some new changes (in the squad), there some new players moreso there are some local players in the squad.

“So it doesn’t matter whoever they call, what matters most is how ready we are for the game, to give our best for the team.

“The result doesn’t matter, its about the performance all the time, we as players we need to make sure that we perform to the best so the result will come after.

“So football is football no matter the squad you have, the best always comes, we need the three points, we just wait for what is going to come on that day.”

The Paradou SC Midfielder doesn’t expect Algeria to take the game for granted despite sealing qualification earlier.

“I don’t think the coach will change that because it’s their way of playing, they are going to come like the way they played in the first round.

“We just need to prepare our heads, we need to work on our mistakes we did when we were away from home and we work on our strength so we need these points for us to qualify for the next AFCON”.
