Tonny Kyamera: UPDF Favorites to Sign Goalkeeper

Uganda Premier League (UPL) side UPDF is leading the race to sign assertive goalkeeper Tonny Kyamera, TheSportsNation has learnt.

The club is interested in his services, and the Bombo-based side are favorites to get their man, as it would grant the player top flight football, and it’s also one that comes with convenience for the goalkeeper who also hails from Bombo.

This website also understands that another UPL side Mbarara City, two FUFA Big League (FBL) sides Police and Jinja North have all made inquiries about the availability of the goalkeeper.

Since debuting for Express FC in the UPL in 2018, Kyamera has since traversed the country playing for Onduparaka in West-Nile and in the past two seasons, he signed two separate one-year contracts with Blacks Power in the northern side of the country.

The custodian’s last two years in Lira have been significant; he guided Blacks Power to their maiden FBL title, and continued with them in their first ever UPL season.

He has established himself there as one of the best in the region. Obviously, Lira is now his second home – he even represents the Lango Province in the FUFA Drum tournament.

Kyamera would be willing to renew with Blacks Power to stay in Lira for atleast another year, he only seems bothered with the club’s reluctance to get things done and confirmed.

The Lira-based club has been so quiet in this whole transfer bussiness. Alot of changes are expected on the team after relegation to the second division, but the club has not announced anything yet. There has been no confirmation yet regarding any incoming or outgoing players.

Even the club’s next coach has not been made known since the departure of Hussein Mbalangu to newly promoted UPL side NEC FC.
